Our Story
Guidance Rooted in Patience and Respect
Thayat Legal was founded to offer families in northern Thailand a quiet, knowledgeable place to turn when inheritance matters arise.
Back to HomeWho We Are
A Practice Built on Listening
Thayat Legal opened in Chiang Mai with a clear intent: to help families navigate inheritance matters without feeling rushed, judged, or confused. Our founders had observed that people facing bereavement or estate concerns often encountered services that felt transactional and cold. We set out to offer something different.
We focus exclusively on inheritance matters — wills, estate administration, and resolution of inheritance questions — which means our team has built practical depth in this specific area of Thai law. This focus allows us to work carefully and speak plainly with clients, rather than offering broad advice across many fields.
Every consultation begins with listening. We ask what you need, what you hope for, and what concerns you most. Only then do we discuss how we might help. There is never any pressure to proceed, and we are equally glad to answer a simple question as to support a more involved matter.
Our Mission
To make Thai inheritance law accessible to every family who needs it, delivered with patience and without pressure.
Our Values
Honesty, discretion, and a calm pace. We believe good legal support should feel supportive, not stressful.
Where We Are

Timely Communication
We respond to all enquiries within one working day and keep clients updated whenever there is meaningful progress on their matter.
Fee Transparency
We discuss fees openly at the outset. There are no surprises. Our fixed-fee structure means you know the cost before any work begins.
Inheritance Law in Northern Thailand
Thai inheritance law is governed primarily by the Civil and Commercial Code, with provisions covering wills, intestate succession, and the appointment of estate administrators. Navigating these provisions while also managing the practical and emotional weight of a loss requires patient, specialised support.
Chiang Mai families often face specific circumstances: mixed-nationality estates, properties registered in multiple names, or extended family arrangements that do not map neatly onto standard legal templates. Thayat Legal has developed practical familiarity with these local situations over many years of focused practice.
Whether you are preparing documents while in good health, working through an estate after a bereavement, or seeking clear guidance on a contested matter, we are here to assist. Our approach is methodical, unhurried, and always centred on what is most helpful to you and your family.
